Edit lets someone create and change content without letting them share it, change who else has access, or delete it. It sits between View and Admin, and it is not offered for every type of content.

A project Editor can create and edit content within the project. Editors cannot share the project, change anyone's permissions, or delete it. See Project Permissions.

A Space Editor can create and edit content within the Space. Editors cannot share the Space, change anyone's permissions, or delete it. See Space Permissions.

Layers are the one other type of content that offers Edit access when shared with an individual. See Share Layers for how layer sharing works.

A template is a project nominated for reuse, so template Edit access works the same way project Edit access does: create and edit the template's content, without the ability to share it or delete it. See Create a Template.

Layout templates do not offer Edit access when shared with an individual. Someone you share one with gets View or Admin. See Share layouts.

Files attached to a project, like reports, surveys, or 3D models, follow that project's permission level rather than having their own sharing dialog. Someone with Edit access to the project can add and remove attachments. Permanently deleting one from the File manager, and turning on Guest visibility for it on Enterprise accounts, is reserved for the project's Admin. See Project Attachments.

A file in your File Library is a different thing from a project attachment: it shares the same underlying structure as a content pack. It does not offer Edit access when shared with an individual. Someone you share one with gets View or Admin.

Content packs do not offer Edit access when shared with an individual. Someone you share a content pack with gets either View or Admin. See Share a Content Pack.

Apps do not offer Edit access either. Someone you share an app with can use it in projects at View, or manage it at Admin. See Share an App.

Credentials do not use the graded Admin, Edit, View, and Guest system the way other content does. A credential is shared with a Team or your workspace as a whole, and separately with the apps that need it, rather than assigned an individual permission level. See Share a Credential.

Workspace Edit is a broader role, set when a member is invited. A workspace Editor can create their own projects and spaces, manage the ones they create, create new data layers, and share content with individuals or Teams they belong to. See Member Permissions and Governance in Giraffe.
