Carousel items are like slides in a slide deck. They are the rich content seen displayed under each theme heading. Each theme can have multiple carousel items.
The Carousel items display Images, Text, and Legends in the right hand bar.
Viewers of a places project can click arrows to navigate between Carousel items.
When a new carousel item is selected, the places project adjust the map to match the selected View.
Create a Carousel item
Open the Organize Layout tab in the Places app. Then, navigate to the Theme you want to add a carousel item to.
Click the + to add a carousel item.
Select a saved view
The Map will navigate to that view when the Carousel item is selected by the Places viewer
Paste an image url
An image to display in the carousel. Optional - if no image required, delete the URL
Paste a legend url
If your map needs a legend for icons or colors, add the URL of the legend here. A button to view the legend will appear to the Places Viewer.
Edit a Carousel Item

Double click to edit the name
10. Edit Carousel Item
Click the Pencil to open the edit modal. Edit the view, image, or legend.
Delete Carousel Item
Click the bin to delete the selected carousel item and all of its contents.
Move Carousel Item
Change the order in which the carousel items display in the editor and the Places view. Click-drag on the 6-dot icon to move. You can move carousels between themes using this method.
Add Content to Carousel Item
There are two ways to add content to a carousel item: The Preview Mode or the JSON Editor.
Preview Mode
At the bottom of the editor is a button to switch to Preview Mode.
Clicking this means that you will see what viewers of your project will see with a few minor differences.
In this mode, most of the text on the right-bar will be editable if it is clicked on by an editor.
Theme title. Double click to edit text
Image preview. Edit the image in the carousel content editor
Carousel item title. Double click to edit text
Carousel item description. Double click to edit text in a rich text editor.
🗺️ Note - the only place to edit the Carousel Item Description is in Preview Mode OR the JSON editor
End Preview. Returns to the editor.
JSON Editor
At the bottom of the editor is a button to switch to JSON editor.
By editing the Places JSON, you can fully customize the look and feel of your Places project and edit headings, descriptions, and carousel text
