Some spatial datasets have hundreds of fields. That much data is great to have, but sometimes you are interested in only a few. Select which columns to display and how they appear.
Select Columns
The column display menu is bottom center of the data table.
Click the menu to see your column selections.
Show all columns
Adds all dataset columns to the table
Columns visible
Shows a report of the columns displayed in the table versus how many columns are available in the dataset
Filter Columns
Search for a column name in the "filter columns" box
Column list
Selected columns display a checkmark and are sorted to the top
Click the checkbox to add or remove the column to the data table
Column Order
When all columns in a dataset are displayed, they inherit the order set by the dataset at creation.
When only some columns are selected, columns display in the order that they were ticked in the select columns menu.
To change the column order in the table, click and drag on a column header.
Pin Column
Sometimes, a single column's information is important to view side-by-side with other columns as you side scroll.
To freeze a column to the front of the table, click the 3 dot menu on the column, and select "Pin Column."
You can pin the column to the left or right side of the table.
Autosize Column
Change the column width to match its contents.
Right click on the header.
Select "autosize" or "autosize all"
Change Colum Type
Sometimes, data in layers is not formatted. If the column is formatted incorrectly, filtering can be difficult. Force the column to display as a different type.
Click "change column type"
The data type modal appears.
Here, you can select another data type, change the column label, and add or edit the description.
The Data type Options are:
Text - treats the column values as a text string
Number - treats the column values as numerical doubles
Date - treats the columns values as a UTC date/time
Toggle - treats column as true/false
Select - treats the column as a single select dropdown
Reset Changes
To reset column changes, right click in the table header and select "reset columns." This will reset the layer to the initial saved state (as it was set at layer creation).
