About Regrid

Discover the power of Regrid's Standardized Zoning geospatial layer matched to nationwide parcel data, and unlock a deeper understanding of land use. With monthly updates across all major metropolitan areas, Regrid’s zoning data empowers you to make better decisions and takes your understanding of land to new heights.

Connect the Regrid dataset directly into your Giraffe projects with the spatial layer!

Regrid experts collect & standardize data from multiple authorities including government records and other proprietary sources. Combining this data ensures your access to the most accurate, up-to-date information.

Getting Started

The Regrid dataset is presented in Giraffe as a Vector Layer. Once you have purchased the data, the Layer will be available to you in the Layer Library. Add it to your Projects or Spaces the same way you add any other layers from the library!

Add the layer

Click “+ Data layer” in the layer palette.

The add data layer button looks like a database icon with a plus sign

The layer menu appears. Then, Search “Regrid”

Click the checkbox next to “Regrid National Parcels” or "Regrid Canada" depending on which dataset you have purchased.

The Regrid Layer appears in your layer palette.

  • Adjust the opacity of the layer using sliders

  • If you want parcels to appear on top of other data (like satellite, for instance), move the layer up in the tree. Data layers higher in the tree will display on top of data lower in the tree.

Reviewing Data

The Regrid layer is a vector dataset. You can query its information using the data table. The data table is a familiar spreadsheet-based view of your data. Rows are parcel records. Columns are data about the parcel.

To open the lens controls, Mouse over a layer, and click the Table icon.

The data table appears at the bottom center of your screen. The controls are identical to any other vector layer. Explore the UI in the Data Table Overview.

Select your Columns

The Regrid layer has 25 default columns shown (of the over 150 available). If you want to add more columns to your table view, click the column menu and add/remove what you need.

Style the Parcels

Use the data table style options to re-color the parcels based on your criteria. The default state is colored by the normalized zoning type, but you can re-style to whatever is most useful for you.

Searching for Parcels

Find parcels that meet your criteria using filters.

Filter on over 150+ fields including:

  • Zoning

  • Owner Name

  • Land Use

  • Land Area

  • Last Sale Date

  • Sale price

and more!

There are 3 ways to apply filters:

Text Search

Open search by clicking the magnifying glass.

Type any search term into the search box.

The table filters to any text in any visible column matching the search term.

“Add Filter” Button

Click Add a Filter to see the options available. Each item in the list is a field saved on the parcels.

Filter on Column

Click the down arrow on the column header to see your options.

The property contents will determine your filtering options:

Save your Search Criteria

Click the save icon on the table to save any changes you’ve made (filters, sorting, or styling). The current state will remain the next time you open the project.

Actioning your results

The results of your filters display in the data table and on the map. As you pan the map, the results will update based on what is currently visible. Use sorting to change which parcel results appear closer to the top of the table.

Left-Hand Dock

Click any layer shape on the currently-Lensed layer with data table open

or

Click any row in the data table table

A panel appears in the right-hand dock that displays that shape’s information.

The currently-selected parcel will also be highlighted in blue.

Create Projects

The most common result of a search in Regrid is to create projects from the parcels that meet your development criteria. There are a few ways to create projects using the Regrid layer.

Right-Click Map

From Space: Right click on any parcel outline, then select "Create New Project"

From Project: Right click any parcel outline, then select "Set Project Boundary"

Create Project Button

Another option is to use the table selection to create a project. With one or more rows selected in the data table, click the create project button.

  • If one parcel is selected, that will be the project boundary.

  • If multiple touching parcels are selected, the project boundary will be the combined polygon of all parcels.

  • If multiple non-touching parcels are selected, giraffe will use the selection bounding box as the project boundary.

Bulk Create Projects

You can also create multiple projects at once from multiple selected rows in the table.

Choose the create multiple projects button.

Each selection in the table will become its own project.
