Giraffe organizes map content using Layers. The map can display a combination of geospatial datasets and geometries you create in Giraffe. The geometries you create in your project using the Drawing tools all live on Drawing Layers.
Drawing Layers are integrated into the Layer Palette along with Spatial Data Layers.
Drawing layers function in many of the same ways geospatial layers do. You can:
adjust the opacity
change the order
add to groups
Drawing layers have some additional functions:
Duplicate
Rename (except for the default layer)
Lock
Drawing Layer visibility controls what counts in Urban Calculations
Drawing Layers are identified by a Pencil icon in the layer palette.
The Default Drawing Layer
The default drawing layer is the first layer in any Giraffe project. It is also activated by default on project start. You can rename and delete the default layer if desired. If you attempt to draw something when there is not a drawing layer in the project, Giraffe will automatically create a new "default" layer for you.
