Style Types
There are 4 style types available
Fill
Represents polygons as a colored shape.
Best for polygon shape data
Color each polygon by a property of your choosing.
Circle
Represents points on the map as a styleable circle
Best for data based on a centroid
Color each circle by a property of your choosing
Set the radius (in pixels)
3D
Extrudes polygons with a height property
Toggle extrusion on/off
Color each extrusion by a property of your choosing
Select the base height
Select the Height
Select the Scale
None
No style applied to the shape, or shape is a polyline rather than closed polygon
use when you want no fill color or shape
Great to combine with outline or label
Color Settings
Add color to the map using color controls.
The same color controls apply to fill, label, and outline colors.
Color ramps
Map a range of colors to property values within a selected field.
Select the 3 dots next to the color selector and choose "show color scale"
Categorical
A different color is applied to each field value.
Good for text data fields. Works best with 25 or fewer values.
Select a data field from the dropdown.
The default color ramp is applied
Quantitative
A gradient of color is applied based on a number range.
Good for numeric data with a wider range of values.
Select a data field from the dropdown.
The default color ramp is applied
Editing the Ramp
Click the color ramp preview to select a different color scheme, edit the color mapping, or add additional values.
Select the Palette type (categorical or quantitative)
Select a palette
Toggle "ignore case" to ignore capitalisation in color mapping
Click the colored dot to select a different color, or input a hex code in the text box
Edit the field value. (It must match a field value in the dataset to appear on the map)
Delete a color mapping. The fallback color will be applied if a mapping cannot be found
Add another color - adds a blank row. Input additional un-mapped values (It must match a field value in the dataset to appear on the map)
Click "Update" to save changes
Fixed Color
Apply the same color to all elements.
Click the 3 dot menu next to the field selector.
Select "Fixed color"
Click the dot to select a color, or input a hex code into the text box.
Color by Property
If a color is saved in the dataset's fields, you can reference it to apply those colors.
Click the 3 dot menu next to the field selector.
Select "Fixed color"
Then, click "set color as property"
Input the name of the color property
The map will inherit colors from the field, including hex values and default color names like red, green, or blue.
You can change to a different property, or revert
Set the Fill Opacity
The opacity slider affects the opacity of the geometries when the layer is set to 100% opaque in the layer palette. This allows you to set polygons to be transparent without having to save a layer visibility in the layer palette.
Label Settings
Toggle on label to add a label.
Set the label color, using the same color settings detailed above. The label color is the background color of the label rectangle.
Add label details. Select fields from the dataset to display on the label
The first field will be the label title - in bold
Subsequent fields will include the field name in bold and value in regular text
Add as many fields as you like.
Outline Settings
Toggle on Outline to adjust the outline appearance. The outline either outlines an enclosed polygon, or adjust the color of polylines (like road centerlines or fault lines).
Set the outline color, using the same settings detailed above.
Set the stroke width. Select either meters (for real-world size) or pixels (for screen size)
