Templates are simply special projects that have been designated for re-use. You can either create a template project from scratch, or use an existing production project as a template for future work.

Create a Template Project

  1. To create a template project from scratch, start a new project.

    1. You can locate the template anywhere. We recommend using your organisation's office location, or the city hall of your municipality.

  2. Add template content

    1. update all of the project usages. Delete usages you do not need.

    2. Configure your property definitions

    3. Add flows or blocks

    4. add analytics categories, measures, and tabs

  3. configure your project defaults

  4. Select your base map style

Make the Project into a Template

Once your project is configured, your can turn it into a template.

  1. Open project settings (Cog icon on the left)

  2. Click "Use as Template"

  3. Select where the template should be designated

    1. For me: only you will have access to the template

    2. for my teams: select a team. all members of that team will have access

    3. For this workspace: everyone in your organisation's workspace will have access

Share the Template

The last step of making a template available to others is to share the template project with them.

We recommend sharing the template with "view" access to prevent accidental editing.
