The Pattern Book App is your centralised library for reusable design and development patterns. It helps teams discover, document, and apply proven solutions quickly!

Create a Project that contains your Patterns

Before using the Pattern Book app, you need to define your "patterns." The best way to organize your patterns is in a designated project that contains them.

  1. Name it something recognizable, like "Patterns" or "Designs"

  2. Draw each of your repeatable designs in the Pattern project

  3. Include a point with the Block Basepoint Property.

Place a point - typically in the center of the design.
Add the Block Basepoint Property. Make sure the toggle is on.

  4. Group each individual design, including the Block Basepoint point.
    Give the groups recognizable names
Suggestion: Use your org's naming conventions

In this example project, we have 4 designs:

  • Duplex

  • Triplex

  • Quad

  • Six

Each pattern is grouped with a recognizable name:

Using Pattern Book

In a new feasibility project, Add the pattern book app from the App store.

Open the app by clicking the icon in the app selector. The app icon looks like a colorful building.

Add a site

Click Add site

Trace the outline of your parcel or site.

Use S to snap.

Double click to end the command.

Set the setbacks.

The "add site" button automatically generates an Envelope flow.

Adjust its setbacks in the Properties palette.

Use the shift + a shortcut to define the sides on the geometry.

Select a project

Select a project from the dropdown in the Pattern Book app.

Allow the app to access the designs:

Place a Design

Make sure you have the envelope geometry selected on your map.

The patterns that fit within the selected envelope display in the app viewer:

Click Place to add the design to your map

The design will place centered within the footprint allowed by the envelope.

If you "place" another pattern, it will replace the existing pattern.
