Annotations call out important content that can't be communicated purely through built form models or spatial layers.
Annotations can include arrows, text, image markers, 3D models, and popups.
Most annotations in Giraffe are enabled by the Label properties category.
Turn on a Label
"Label" is the name of the category of properties that control annotation appearance.
In the properties palette, click the eyeball to turn on the label .
If needed, click the carat to expand the section.
Once the label is toggled on, it's properties can be edited in the left bar.
To turn the label off, click the eyeball again.
Label Behavior
A unique aspect of working with annotations in Giraffe is that they are also in-scale, in 3D space, and geospatial.
Unlike most 3D software, Giraffe Annotations are not view-specific. Therefore, the text alignment and position relative to other geometries depends on how the map camera is currently oriented.
Some tips for placing labels:
Use Base Height to move the label up or down in space to position it above or below geometries
Use Drawing Layers and Views to control the visibility of labels in certain contexts.
Adjust the stick and alignment properties of the Label to fine-tune spacing
Use World Space to control the zoom scale
Use "In Front" to control label overlay behavior
Hide all Labels
If you want to look at your project without the labels you have created, you can toggle the visibility by clicking Toggle Label Visibility in the map vis settings.
