What is a Scenario?

In real estate development, design option or scheme refers to a specific configuration of a proposed built form on a given site — a distinct combination of variables such as building typology, density, floor plate size, number of units, use mix, and massing that together represent one possible way the site could be developed.

In Giraffe, these options are managed using Scenarios.

Scenarios in Giraffe are a special property that help relate geometries for the purpose of managing different options. Scenarios are assigned to geometries in the properties palette, and managed in the Scenario Palette.

  • If a geometry does not have a scenario assigned, it is assigned to Base Model.

  • A single geometry can be assigned to multiple scenarios.

  • Geometries in different scenarios can reside on the same drawing layer (for stacking purposes).
