How to use the Georeferencing app to place images

Use the Georeferencing app to place images (jpg, png) and PDFs to scale on the map.

How add the app

Open the app store and add Georeferencing

Open the Georeferencing app (the app icon is a compass)

Follow the steps in the app to upload your image

Upload your Image

Click Upload

The Upload menu appears.

Browse for your file

Select the file size (if the site is large, use a larger file size to keep the resolution).

Give the file a name.

Toggle “viewable by guests” to make it visible in a Guest Space (Enterprise only)

Click Save.

Crop the Image

The selected image appears in a crop window.

Adjust the crop outline to the desired extents

Place Georeferenced Points

Georeferencing Settings

Most can use the suggested defaults. If you want to fine-tune, use the settings below.

  1. Polynomial

    1. Affine

    2. Quadratic

    3. Cubic

    4. Thin Plate Spline

  2. Resampler

    1. Auto

    2. Nearest

    3. Bilinear

    4. Cubic

  3. GCPs: The number of Georeferenced Points

  4. Reset All: Revert to defaults

  5. The Georeferenced Points

    1. Click the Bin to delete

    2. Click the target to re-place

    3. Lat/Lon represents map point location

  6. The image point placement

Georeferencing Steps

Click on a location on the image (ie an intersection or parcel corner)

Then, click the same location on the map

Continue until the desired number of points are placed.

Click “Finish.”

A new polygon with the image is placed on the currently selected layer
