When accuracy is important, you can create with precision.

Input a number to control the length of an edge or the distance of a move.

Type an exact length at any time:

  • When creating new geometry, to control edge length

  • When moving geometry, to control the move distance

  • When extruding geometry, to control the extrusion distance

To generate a geometry of an exact size:

  • Select the rectangle, polygon, or line drawing tool

  • click the starting point and type a number, e.g. 100

  • click where you want the 100 ft (m) line to finish

  • type another dimension e.g. 50

  • Continue to complete the rectangle, polygon, or line

To extrude a side an exact distance:

  • Select the object

  • Click and drag the extrude handles you want to move

  • Before releasing, type a number

  • Release

To Scale an object an exact amount:

  • Select the object

  • Click and hold the scale handles

  • Type a percentage in decimal form (i.g. .5, or 1.5)

  • Release

Type a negative scale to invert the geometry

To Rotate an object an exact amount:

  • Select the object

  • Click and hold the rotate handle

  • Type a number (degrees)

  • Release

To Move an Object an Exact Distance:

  • Select the object

  • Use the B shortcut to enable base point move

  • Hold S and click on the point you want to move from

  • Type a distance

  • Orient the arrow in the direction your want to move. Hold shift to snap orthogonally

  • Click to move
