Most buildings are angular, with sharp corners. It maximizes usable space, is easier to clad, and is cheaper to build. But, sometimes a more organic shape is desirable.

Enter the many flow options for curving corners!

Draw the base shape

All curving lines and polygons in Giraffe start with using a typical draw tool. Draw a building, road, landscape, or generic shape using the drawing tools.

Edit the control points as desired to create your starting shape. The control points are where the curves will be applied in the flow.

Add a flow

With your geometry selected, open the flow builder by clicking the lightning bolt on the left palette.

To start, select "round corners"

The round corners node transforms the geometry:

Depending on your specific sizes and shapes, some or all of the corners should be rounded.

If some edges are too small to support the default rounding, they will remain straight, as seen in our example:

The round corners node automatically places a radius input in the properties palette. Adjust the radius amount to change the rounding.

Learn more about the round corners settings in its documentation page.

More Curve Options

There are many flow nodes that round corners. Try some of these options:

Round Corners

Bezier

Fillet Corners

Catmull-rom
